During the summer months, it’s easy to get out and about to enjoy the natural world around you. However, during the winter it can be a little more difficult and we lose some of the fantastic flora that is blooming in the warmer months. Why not use these next couple months to decorate your home with a little bit of the outdoors?
Here is a fun activity the whole family can get involved in to create their own nature sculptures.
What you will need:
Step 1
We need to go out into nature and find some supplies.
Now remember we do not want to destroy nature so when we are gathering supplies dont take too many just enough to complete your masterpiece.
Step 2
Once we have all of our pieces from the outside it’s time to get started.
We need to first of all soften our clay, double-check the instructions for the brand you purchased but most brands from the craft store will be very similar. We start kneading ours and then separate it into golf ball-size pieces.
Step 3
Once you have your golf ball size pieces of clay lay your item you wish to imprint on the table.
Top tip make sure the most textured side is facing up at you.
Then take your piece of clay and press down on your item. Your clay should spread out to more of a pebble shape as you apply your weight.
Step 4
Once you have imprinted all your pieces it’s time to pop them in the oven to bake. Again refer back to the instructions of your particular clay to know how long and the temperature to set your oven to.
Step 5
Once your sculptures have finished baking you can leave them as they are or you can grab some paints and decorate them even further creating a whole extra activity to keep the little ones entertained.
