At Camp Wilderness we’re passionate about getting children and families outdoors, summer camp experiences like no other leaving their tech behind and helping them to make life-long memories. From lighting fires and sleeping under the stars, to following animal tracks and learning water purification techniques, we’re here to unlock everyone’s inner adventurer.
Run by The Bushcraft Company, experts in outdoor education for school children and a leading provider of outdoor education within the UK, Camp Wilderness has extremely high standards of pastoral care, health and safety, and activity provision.
Nestled deep within the enchanting wilderness, there stood a camp like no other – Camp Wilderness. It was a place where young adventurers embarked on thrilling journeys, immersing themselves in the wonders of nature and honing their bushcraft skills.
The journey through Camp Wilderness begins with the Explorer Camps, offering both 3-day and 5-day experiences. These camps serve as a gateway for budding explorers, introducing them to the basics of bushcraft and igniting their passion for the great outdoors. From learning to build shelters and start fires to identifying tracks and whittling tent pegs, these camps provided a solid foundation for the adventures that lays ahead.
As the young campers grow older and more experienced, they progress to the Advanced Explorer Camp. This 5-day expedition pushes their limits further, challenging them to navigate through dense forests, master advanced survival techniques, and test their newfound skills. With each passing year, the campers develop resilience, independence, and a deeper connection with the natural world.
For the adventurous among you, Camp Wilderness has the Thrill Seeker Camp. Located in a picturesque setting at Cuffley, this multi-activity camp offered a whirlwind of adrenaline-pumping adventures. From zip-lining through towering trees to conquering high ropes courses and tackling exhilarating team challenges, the campers discover the joy of pushing their boundaries and embrace the thrill of adventure.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. The journey continues with the Snowdonia-based Mountain Adventure Camp, where campers venture into the majestic mountains. Guided by seasoned mountaineers, they learn the art of rock climbing, rappelling down cliffs, and navigating challenging terrains. With each summit conquered, they gain a profound sense of achievement and a new perspective on the vastness of nature.
Last but not least, Camp Wilderness offers the Sealyham-based Coastal Expert Camp, taking the campers on a coastal exploration like no other. Campers delve into the thrilling realm of coasteering – a unique blend of scrambling, swimming, and cliff jumping. Guided by experienced instructors, they explore rocky coastlines, navigate through hidden caves and craggy cliffs. With each leap into the foaming sea and every scramble along the rugged coastline, the campers embrace the raw energy of the ocean and their own courage. They hone their navigation skills, develop an appreciation for marine life, and learn to respect and protect the fragile ecosystems that surrounded them.
With each passing year, from the age of 8 to 16, the campers can return to Camp Wilderness, building upon their previous experiences, skills, and activities. They will grow in confidence, resilience, and resourcefulness, forging lifelong friendships and a deep connection with the great outdoors.
Camp Wilderness is a rite of passage, where children transform into young adventurers, ready to face any challenge that comes their way. It is a place where they discover their true potential, nurture their love for nature, and embrace the spirit of exploration.
At the end of each camp at Camp Wilderness, campers are awarded a coveted badge as a symbol of their accomplishment and completion of the course. These badges are celebration of their achievement for completing the camp and recognises the skills they have now leaned and the experiences they have gained.
As a camper you can collect the badges by completing all of the courses. Wear these with pride when you return the following year for your next adventure!
